Mumbai, August 7, 2018: Patel Engineering, a Civil Construction Company focused on hydropower sector, today announced that the Company has bagged two hydro Projects and a Tunnel Project:

Kundah Hydro Electric Project (500 MW), Tamil Nadu

The Company received an LOI from Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (TANGEDCO) for construction of Kundah Pumped Storage Hydro Electric Project (500 MW) near Oooty, costing INR 667.63 Cr. The Project is funded by Rural Electrification Corporation (REC). The Project comprising Head Race tunnel of 2.2 Km, Tail Race Tunnel between Portimund Reservoir (Upper Reservoir) and Emerald-Avalanche Reservoir (Lower Reservoir), several Adit, Tunnels of 1.9 Km, Main Access Tunnel of length 0.28KM and Cable cum Ventilation Tunnel of length 0.36 Km. Upon its ultimate completion would provide peaking benefit of 500 MW of Hydro Power to the State of Tamil Nadu.

ARUN-3 Hydro Electric Project (900 MW), Nepal

This Project is being executed by SJVN ARUN-3 Power Development Co. (P) Ltd. which is wholly owned subsidiary of Satluj Jalvidyut Nigam Ltd. (PSU). The Civil work is divided into two lots, the Company has been awarded LOT-2 where work includes construction of head race tunnel, underground power house, pressure shaft, surge shaft and other connected structures with contract value of INR 1125.87 Cr. At present ARUN-3 is largest hydro project so far being executed in Nepal. This is one of the biggest FDI proposal for Nepal i.e. INR 5700 Cr.

Tunnel from Amar Mahal to Trombay

The Company has received LOI from Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) for Construction of tunnel from Amar Mahal (Hedgwar Udyan) to Trombay Low Reservoir (TLLR) and further upto

Trombay High Level Reservoir (THLR) – Contract AMT-II for a contract value of Rs. 618.21 Crs.It has 3 Nos. of shaft having 10m, 8m & 8m diameter with 81m, 105m & 110m depth. The Tunnel has a diameter of 3.2 m and 5.532 Km length to be constructed by TBM method.

Today Patel Engineering Limited ("Patel") & KNR Constructions Limited (“KNR”) signed a share purchase agreement to sell their entire equity stake in two Road BOT assets viz. Patel KNR Infrastructure Limited ("PKIL") and Patel KNR Heavy Infrastructure Limited ("PKHIL") to an Essel group company.

Both the assets are operational annuity based BOT assets awarded by NHAI. The enterprise value of both assets put together for this transaction is INR 850 Crores. The transaction is subject to certain conditions precedent including lenders and NHAI approvals, customary to transactions of this nature and parties anticipate closing of the transaction within next 2-3 months.

Mr. Rupen Patel, Managing Director of Patel commented that sale of these assets is part of the Monetization plan to improve financial liquidity for ongoing operations. Company intends to identify such quality assets and seek to optimum value which should strengthen its overall cash flow position and helps in deleveraging its balance sheet.

Mr. K. Jalandhar Reddy, Executive Director of KNR informed that the BOT asset sale is part of KNR Group's strategy to focus on their EPC business and demonstrates their ability to build and construct good quality assets coupled with timely and efficient churn of invested equity which can be utilized as growth capital.

Equirus Capital acted as exclusive transaction advisors to the Sellers on this transaction. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (Delhi) were the legal advisors to the Sellers whereas Luthra and Luthra law offices advised the buyers on this transaction. Mr. Ajay Garg, Managing Director of Equirus Capital quoted "The transaction is in line with the trend seen across the roads sector where institutional money is chasing operational cash-flows and helping in debt reduction of infrastructure conglomerates".

Mumbai, September 01, 2016: The Cabinet's decision that requires Government agencies to pay 75 percent of the arbitral awards is expected to reduce Patel Engineering's debt by more than half. Patel Engineering has won arbitration awards in excess of Rs 2,500 crore. With the recent Cabinet decision, the company will get 75 per cent of this amount immediately which will be utilised to retire debt. Further, claims approximating to Rs. 5,000 crore are in the arbitration process and are expected to be monetized within next 12 to 18 months based on the Cabinet decision. The same will be utilized to reduce the debt even further. Patel Engineering's total standalone debt as on March 31, 2016 stood at Rs. 4,535 crore approximately.

Mr. Rupen Patel, Managing Director, Patel Engineering Ltd said: "The cabinet's decision on payment of arbitration awards to infrastructure companies will support construction companies to infuse liquidity into the stressed and help create more jobs. We will shortly be able to reduce debt by 55-60 percent and even further within the next 12-18 months. This additional liquidity will help the Company to strengthen its Balance Sheet and enable to participate in large infrastructure projects."

The Directors of the Company through circular resolution dated November 10, 2014 have appointed Mr. K. Ramasubramanian as an additional director with effect from November 10, 2014 to hold office as an Independent Director of the company for a period of 5 years commencing from November 10, 2014 subject to approval of shareholders.

Patel Engineering, a Civil Construction Company focused on hydropower sector, today announced that the Company in consortium with Limak of Turkey and state-owned BHEL has emerged as the lowest bidder for the 1,000 MW Pakal DUL Hydroelectric Project one of the largest hydropower project in the country.

The project 1000 MW (4 x 250 MW) hydropower project is being set up in the District of Doda, Jammu & Kashmir. The project is to be completed in 66 months and when completed will meet the annual energy generation for 90% dependable year is 3387.47 MU. Four parties participated in the bidding process wherein consortium of Patel Engineering and Limak of Turkey and BHEL quoted lowest price of Rs. 8,904 crore.

Bids quoted by Samsung-Coastal-Alstom, Impregilo-Gammon JV and Soma-Song Da-Power Machines were much higher. Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited, a joint venture floated by NHPC Ltd, JKSPDC and PTC India Ltd. had invited tenders to implement Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project. The Project consists of over 160m high concrete faced rock-fill dam, large size 20km of head race tunnel by TBM and underground power house.

BHEL shall design, manufacture and commission 4 x 250 MW francis turbine generator units. Pakal Dul Hydroelectric is one of the three major power projects to be constructed by J&K State Power Development Corporation, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation and Power Trading Corporation of India in joint venture under Chenab Valley Power projects Private Limited. As per the agreement reached between the partners the share of JKSPDC, NHPC and PTC in the Company shall be in the ratio of 49:49:2 respectively and of the total power generated from the projects, the share of JK shall be 62 per cent.

Patel Engineering Limited, an integrated construction company, today announced that the company has bagged two separate urban infrastructure projects amounting to Rs. 377.04 crore from the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.

The company has bagged an Rs. 195.21 crore order for rehabilitation of sewerage lines spread across different stretches across the suburban areas in Mumbai. Further, the company has bagged Rs. 181.83 crore project for the construction of tunnels from Powai to Veravali and Powai to Ghatkopar high-level reservoir and from Ghatkopar high-level reservoir to Ghatkopar low-level reservoir.

The project also involves construction of shafts and allied works. Currently, Patel Engineering is also executing a Rs. 363.05 crore road project for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The project stretches from Shivane to Mhatrae Bridge (Phase-1) and Sangamwadi to Kharadi (Phase-3) in Pune.

Patel Engineering Ltd has announced that the Company has bagged LoharinagPala Hydro Electric Power Project [4x150 MW) : Head Race Tunnel Package worth Rs 3180 million from National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC). The project, to be completed in 38 months is situated on river Bhagirathi in Uttarkashi District of Uttaranchal about 195km from Rishikesh on NH 108."Executing a hydro power project requires vast experience and expertise, and hence yields better margins. We are currently executing a large number of hydro power projects and will continue to focus on acquiring similar projects", said Sonal Patel Whole Time Director, of the Company. Loharinag Pala Hydro Electric Power Project (4x150 MW) is a run-of-the river scheme to generate 1939 MU on 90% dependability. The Project comprises a 6m dia horse shoe shaped 13 km. long concrete lined Head Race Tunnel on the right bank of river whichwill be executed through 3 nos. of access adits using drill and blast technique.

Patel Engineering Ltd has announced that the Company has bagged its first annuity based Build- Operate- Transfer (BOT) project worth Rs 4100 million from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This project on NH-7 in Karnataka, jointly executed by the Company and KNR, and will generate a total revenue of Rs 11858.40 million. The work on the project is expected to commence from December 2006. "Until recently, most highway projects were structured as cash contracts. This pattern is now changing towards annuity based BOT and BOOT projects with emphasis on Public - Private Partnership", said Mr. Rupen Patel, Managing Director, of the Company. He further added, "Patel Engineering, as part of its growth strategy, is moving towards annuity-based projects in road construction and looking at opportunities in hydropower sector as an independent power producer (IPP).â��The NHAI project is for design, construction, development, finance, operation and maintenance of National Highway NH-7 route from Km 463.6 (located in Andhra
Pradhesh / Karnataka Border) to Km 524 (Avathi Village). Besides this, the project also involves improvement, operation and maintenance of Km 524 (Avathi Village) to Km 527 (Nandi Hills Crossing) and Km 535 (Devanhalli Village) to Km 539 (Meenukunte Village) on NH-7 in Karnataka under the North- South Corridor (NHDP Phase II). Meanwhile, the Company has also bagged a Rs 371.30 million contract from the
Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) for the rehabilitation of sewer lines by GRP Liners using Trenchless Technology.

Patel Engineering Ltd has announced that the Company will be submitting bids for a number of infrastructure projects, aggregating to Rs 55,000 million, in the next one year. Among them are 700 Cr. Loharinagpala Hydro Electric Project, 800 Cr. Vishnu Tapovan Hydro Electric Project, 700 Cr. Rampur Hydro Electric Project and 800 Cr. Pala Tiloth Hydro Electric Project. Besides 1000 Cr. Kishanganga Hydro Electric Project and 3500 Cr. Tipaimukh Hydro Electric Project are in the market as Turnkey Hydro Electric Projects for which the Company is in the process of forming Joint Venture with International Contractors. The Company currently has an unexecuted order book position of approx Rs 44,000 million. The Company has since announced plans to foray into hydro power generation as an Independent Power Producer. Beginning FY 2007, it plans to bid for medium size projects in the range of 100 MW to 500 MW on a Built Own, Operate and Transfer basis in the North and North Eastern regions of India. The Company, in a consortium with Larsen & Toubro, has recently bagged Rs 4390.70 million, 520 MW Parbati Hydro Electric Project Stage (III) from the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd.

Patel Engineering Ltd has announced that the Company plans to venture into hydro power generation. The Company will bid for independent power projects (IPP) based on hydro electric power.Commenting on the development Mr. Rupen Patel, Managing Director of the Company said, "We have been contractors for a number hydel projects and see this as a move in the right direction. Further, with the government pushing power sector reforms and encouraging private players, the gestation period for power plants has come down signifantly." Mr. Patel also added, "We plan to bid projects on a BOT [build, operate and transfer) basis with the intention of running the plant ourselves, post-construction. Starting next year, we will be actively bidding for such projects.â��The Company plans to bid for mid-size projects in the range of 100 MW to 500 MW on a built operate and transfer basis in the North and North Eastern regions. In fact, the Company is one of the few Indian companies which have actively participated in the development of 30 hydro power projects. The Company had recently bagged, the Rs 4390.70 million, 520 MW Parbati Hydro Electric Project Stage (III) from the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd in a consortium with Larsen & Toubro. Further, it executing hydro power projects in Teesta, Parbati, Sewa and Turial. In fact, the Company has constructed three dams at Ghatghar near Nasik using Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) technology for the first time in India. This technology allows speedier construction and moreover 60-70% cement is replaced by fly ash resulting in significant savings and effective use of fly ash which is a environmentally a hazardous waste.
The government has identified 162 projects spread across 16 states with an aggregated capacity of 50000 MW. The pre-feasibility report results depict that there are 21 projects with accumulative capacity of about 10000 MW

Patel Engineering Ltd has announced that the Company has bagged a 520 MW Parbati Hydro Electric Project Stage (III) from the National Hydro electric Power Corporation Ltd. in a consortium with L&T. The project is estimated at Rs 4390.70/- million.The project, Located at District Kullu in Himachal Pradesh on river Sainj, includes river diversion, rockfill dam intake, desilting chambers, 5.8 KM Head Race Tunnel and other associated works and will be implemented in 56 months. Commenting on the developments, Ashwin Parmar, Director, Business Development, of the Company said: "Our governmentâ��s increasing thrust on infrastructure construction in the country has thrown open an immense growth opportunity in the sector. This is the first project bagged by Patel Engineering in consortium with L&T. We are optimistic of participating in similar projects in future on the back of synergistic strengths of Patel Engineering and L&T.â��The Company has recently bagged two projects - the Nettampadu Lift I irrigation project and a railway tunnel project. The Nettampadu Lift - I irrigation project near Guddam Doddi Village, Dharur Mandal, will irrigate around sixty thousand hectares of land in the surrounding areas. The railway tunnel project, part of the Lumding-Silchar Gauge Conversion project at Haflong, Assam is a step towards all-round development of north-eastern states to ensure better connectivity with the rest of the country.

Patel Engineering Ltd has informed BSE that ASI RCC Inc., the wholly owned subsidiary of the Company has won the 2005 Aon Build America Award in the Federal and Heavy Renovation category for the $ 31 million Standley Lake Dam Project in Westminister. ASI RCC Inc., USA, is a general contractor primarily focused on Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) Dam Construction and rehabilitation. The award was presented at the Associated General Contractors' 86th annual convention in Las Vegas.

The project is estimated at Rs 3918.60 million. The project which is located at 350 Km from Guwahati, involves construction of Dams, Shafts, Tunnel and Power House comprising of 4 turbine units to generate 150KW each. North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO), the government owned development agency for the project, has designated the Company as the sole contractor for all the civil works of the project. The project is to be completed in 48 months. Kameng Hydro Electric Project is one of the many projects undertaken by NEEPCO to explore power stocks in North-Eastern region.
